Akzo Nobel offers a series of organic peroxide initiators for various post reactor modifications of polypropylene. These modifications are either chemical modifications of the polymer or structural modification of the polymer chains. Polypropylene modification processes involving the use of organic peroxides include:
- Controlled rheology polypropylene (CR-PP): controlled degradation to lower the molecular weight and narrow molecular weight distribution for improved processability
- Dynamic crosslinking of EPDM/PP: improved low-temperature impact and compression set
- High melt strength polypropylene (HMS-PP): long chain branching (crosslinking) to improve melt strength
- Glass fiber reinforced polypropylene (GFR- PP): grafting of functional groups on PP chains for improved adhesion
- Graft polymerization of polypropylene: graft polymerization with styrene monomer onto the polypropylene backbone
