Akzo Nobel Polymer Chemicals builds on a tradition that started over 75 years ago, when our predecessor, Noury, started the first commercial organic peroxide plant in the world. In the late fifties, Stauffer, another predecessor, pioneered Metal Alkyls manufacturing in North America. Akzo Nobel has been producing Ziegler-Natta catalysts in Europe and in the United States since the 1980's. Today, we operate numerous plants in Europe, North America, South America, Japan and Asia Pacific.

With the acquisition in March 2003 of CIRS S.p.A., an Italian company that produces a wide range of antifouling agents and suspending agents, we complemented our product range for the PVC industry.
Many of our metal alkyls, organic peroxides and transition metal compounds can also be used for pharmaceutical and fine organic synthesis.
Akzo Nobel also supplies process chemicals to the semiconductor industry. These High Purity Metalorganics (HPMO) are used to manufacture devices and integrated circuits for the optoelectronic and electronic industries. The business trades under the name Akzo Nobel HPMO.
